Community Projects

Being naturally inclined to gadgetry and technology, Fido staff often find themselves pursuing interesting side-projects.  We have so far turned two of these into subsidiary efforts.

Inspired by early work of the open source RoboHand project, Fido has embarked on an effort to improve the functionality, cost and availability of prosthetic hands for children.   Diving into the new field of 3D printing, we launched FidoHand.  Working in conjunction with UCSF, the FidoHand is now in Beta Trials.   Learn more..

In many large downtown buildings, there is no way to know when the mail arrives, and it mostly arrives at random times. Having observed many co-tenants making their way down the elevator with us to fetch the mail, only to find an empty box, we have begun beta testing communications devices to notify tenants when the mail is actually placed in the mailbox.  Learn more..
